The Southland region (part of the Southern District) covers a diverse landscape. We work together with other groups in greater Southland including Fiordland, Eastern Southland as well as Stewart Island and Tokanui.
Each group has specialist key operations (IMT) and field people. The operations volunteers are well experienced and usually graduate from years of field experience and training.

The key field volunteers training & qualifications range around:
  • CIMS (a National Emergency services standard)
  • Tracking
  • Search Methods
  • Outdoor First Aid and
  • Team Leadership
  • Search & Rescue Management (including portions of marine)
  • And many more
These key skills ensure the most prompt and professional response and rescue of the lost and missing.
